This guide ensures consistency, professionalism, and respect for Ukrainian dance traditions in all Barveenok performances.

Hair & Makeup Expectations by Level

Tiny Tots & Beginners

👧 Girls:

  • Hair: Two French braids or a bun, as per instructor.

  • Absolutely no flyaways—use hairnets on all buns and braids.

  • Makeup:

    • Light brown eyeshadow

    • Black eyeliner (top eyelid)

    • Black mascara

    • Red blush

    • Red lipstick (avoid brownish-red shades)

    • No glitter

👦 Boys:

  • Hair: Styled neatly out of the face (pony tail or bun if longer).

  • Makeup: Blush and red lipstick.

Juniors

👧 Girls:

  • Hair: Low, snug bun at the nape of the neck.

  • Absolutely no flyaways—use hairnets and bobby pins to secure bangs.

  • Makeup:

    • Light brown eyeshadow

    • Black eyeliner (top eyelid)

    • Black mascara

    • Red blush

    • Red lipstick (no brownish-red)

    • No glitter

👦 Boys:

  • Hair: Styled neatly out of the face (pony tail or bun if longer).

  • Makeup: Blush and red lipstick.

Intermediate, Senior, & Adult

👧 Girls:

  • Hair: Braids or bun as per instructor discretion.

  • Absolutely no flyaways—use hairnets on all buns and braids.

  • Makeup:
